South Dublin

South Dublin County (includes the Administrative Regions of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, part of Dublin City, and South County Dublin) is the area south of River Liffey and Dublin City which extends to the Dublin Mountains near County Wicklow.

Much of this area is occupied by Dublin City’s suburbs but there is also a large area of hinterland, hills and mountains. The presence of the M50 Motorway allows easy access to all the national primary routes, the railway, and the seaports. Public Transport such the DART (Suburban Rail) line, an extensive bus service and the LUAS are all available in South Dublin.

South Dublin County is an ideal place to visit as it has many things to do and places to see. With almost 1,400 hectares of public parks and open spaces within the county, South Dublin County caters particularly well for sports and leisure enthusiasts with facilities covering golf, equestrian, angling, cycling, walking and many water sports.

On a nice day Dun Laoghaire is the perfect place to go; you can enjoy an ice cream and walk along the pier taking in the stunning surrounding views. If you are feeling brave why take a tip in the water or jump off the forty foot.

If you are a lover of heights and adventure why not take a spin up the mountains and spend some time at Zipit. Zipit is Ireland’s first forest aerial trail adventure and you can partake in lots of fun including zip lines, rope bridges, tight ropes, cargo nets, climbing walls and lots more. There are courses suitable for children ages seven years and up so there is something to suit all ages with fun for all the family.
